Over 550 runners took part in Balfron’s 5th annual 10K recently and raised over £7,000 for Balfron Schools and the local charity Crossroads Care. Already voted Scotland’s number one 10K, by the readers of a National running magazine, the Mulberry Bush Montessori Balfron 10K race has captured the imagination of the local community and runners of all abilities from all over the UK.

Colin Mendham, Balfron 10K Race Director said “This year the Mulberry Bush Montessori Balfron 10K was even bigger and better than ever, encouraging local runners both young and old to take part and enjoy an active healthy lifestyle. The whole community has been involved and has been very excited to see this event on their own doorstep. The race has raised over £35,000 in the last five years.”

Neil McQuarrie, Principal Teacher of PE at Balfron High School said, “This is a fantastic sum of money that the Balfron 10K is donating to both schools and it is very much appreciated.”

Mrs Ann McIntosh, Head teacher of Balfron Primary said ” I am always amazed not only at the amount of money raised, but the feeling of community that the Balfron 10K event creates. It is an important fundraiser for us and such commitment from Balfron and the business community is wonderful.

Balfron High School and Balfron Primary School will each receive £3,000 each, whilst Crossroads Care – West Stirlingshire will receive a cheque for £1,000.
