Balfron is Number One

The Balfron 10K has been voted the number one 10K in Scotland by readers of a National Running Magazine. In only its fourth year, it has become one of the most highly regarded 10K’s in the Scottish running calendar, with over 600 runners from all over the UK taking part. But that’s not all that’s new.

The 2010 race brings a new main sponsor on board – the Mulberry Bush Montessori, with facilities in both Killearn and Glasgow. Mairi Clark, Managing Director of the Mulberry Bush Montessori said, “I am so thrilled to be the main sponsor of this prestigious event. This endorses my personal and professional commitment to health and well being for all. We have a couple of staff teams and many parents running the 10K, raising valuable funds for charities including SSAFA and the Chest, Heart and Stroke Foundation. It is always a great race to run and the atmosphere is electric.”

Colin Mendham, Race Director said: “We are delighted that the Mulberry Bush Montessori is the main sponsor in 2010 and so proud to have been voted the number one 10K in Scotland by the readers of Runners World. It is a fantastic community event, which has, in the last 3 years raised over £21,000 for Balfron Primary and Balfron High School.  The 2010 race will be a bigger and even better event than last year encouraging local runners, young and old to take part and enjoy an active healthy lifestyle. So make Sunday 25th April, 11am at Balfron Campus, a date in your diary.”

Ann McIntosh, Head Teacher of Balfron Primary School, said: “We are delighted that the Balfron 10K run has become such a huge success and an important fundraiser for us.  It is very much a community event, reinforcing the school’s focus on health and exercise. Our Fun Run for the children of Balfron Primary, prior to the main 10K race, has produced some tremendously talented young runners.  The continued support from Balfron and the business community is wonderful and so much appreciated.”

The eagerly awaited 2010 10K takes place on Sunday 25th April 2010 at 11am from Balfron Campus – following a scenic route out and back. A chip timing device ensures quick and accurate results for runners.

The main sponsor of the event is Mulberry Bush Montessori, with support from other businesses including, Careth Ltd, Endrick Property, Steven Burgess Fine Furniture, The Beech Tree Inn, Graham’s Dairy, Balfron Campus, The Running Company, Webreturn Internet, D.McCallum & Son and many other local businesses.
